The Visionary Life of Bill Gates: A Legacy of Innovation and Philanthropy
Bill Gates is arguably one of the most iconic figures of our times, with an indelible impact on the world of technology, business, and philanthropy. And from being a curious, enthusiastic programmer to ending up as the co-founder of Microsoft, his journey goes on to be a testament to dedication, innovation, and difference-making.
Early Life and the Birth of Microsoft
Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. His early life was full of encouragement for learning and exploration, which Bill very much values. His father was William H. Gates Sr, a very successful attorney; his mother, Mary Maxwell Gates, was a philanthropist and university regent. It is at the age of 13 when Bill developed an interest in programming and spent hours writing code and experimenting with software.
In 1975, Gates dropped from Harvard University to take the dream he shared with his childhood buddy Paul Allen of producing a software company. Microsoft was born. Their first product was a version of the programming language BASIC for the Altair 8800 microcomputer which ushered a revolutionary era in personal computing.
